White House: “Trump did not give Zelensky ultimatum to accept peace agreement”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt denied that President Donald Trump gave Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky an ultimatum to accept a permanent peace offer “by the end of the day”, otherwise the US leaves peace negotiations.

“Not until the end of the day,” Leavitt told Jeff Zeleny, from CNN contradicting some media reports.

However, Leavitt maintained that Trump is becoming increasingly frustrated and “needs to see this issue comes to an end.” She added that the Ukrainian President is going “in the wrong direction” when it comes to peace negotiations and that Zelensky “has been trying to litigate this negotiation of peace in the press, and this is unacceptable to the president.”

“Your patience is running out,” added the press secretary, referring to Trump.

Earlier on Wednesday (23), Trump accused Zelensky of prolonging the war through “inflammatory statements,” after the Ukrainian President said his country “will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea.”

This is a provision of the peace agreement that the US has helped to negotiate, the CNN .
