US president’s expert envoy, Steven Whitkov, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragsi and had “very positive and constructive” talks, the White House said today. “Special envoy Witten emphasized Dr. Araksi that he has instructions from President Trump to resolve the differences of our two countries through dialogue and diplomacy if this is possible, “the White House said. “These issues are very complicated, and the direct communication of the special envoy today is one step forward to reach a mutually beneficial agreement,” the statement added, which states that “the sides have agreed to meet again next Saturday”. These talks take place despite Donald Trump’s threats to take military action against Iran if the Islamic Republic does not conclude an agreement on its nuclear program. Source: RES
