“I announce a great joy: we have a pope! The most eminent and reverend Lord [primeiro nome ou nome próprio] Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church [sobrenome] that takes the name [nome papal]. ”
After the statement, the new Pope first appears to the world and, in his first act, grants the blessing Urbi et Orbi, from Latin “to the city [de Roma] and to the world, to the whole universe. ”
Days after the election, the Pope formally assumes the post of leader of the Catholic Church of more than 1.4 billion faithful around the world.
