Who are the Houthis who are attacking ships and escalating the crisis in the Middle East?

Last night's American and British attack in positions of Houthi in Yemenfollowing dozens of recent attacks by Shia rebels against merchant ships sailing in the Red Sea, is rekindling fears of a dangerous escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

Who are the Houthis?
