A new shipping duo that is active for the first time onshore together is joining Intrakat in addition to shipowners Dimitris Bakos and Yiannis Kaimenakis.

The shipowner Ilias Gotsis, owner of Eurotankers, and Costas Angelou, president of the companies Benelux Overseas Inc and Benelux Overseas DMCC will acquire 29% of Intrakat, also entering the construction market, with market circles stressing that equally important is and the part of alternative energy sources.

According to information, the shipowner Ilias Gotsis will acquire approximately 14% of the construction company and Mr. Angelou 13.5%. Both names are well known in the shipbuilding community, but with a discreet presence in the area. The common denominator of all four is Dubai, as a large part of the shipping activities were from trade there. However, it seems that on land they have not collaborated again.

Both, although low key, have been present in the shipping industry for several years. Especially in the last five years, Elias Gotsi’s company took many business risks, which paid off, increasing its tonnage and its activities multiple times in a short period of time, both in tankers and bulk cargo.

According to the Eurotankers website, it has a fleet of 14 ships with transports from the Gulf of the Middle East, the Far East, Oceania, America, Africa, the Baltic Sea, the Mediterranean and even the black Black Sea, with Its tankers mainly transport crude oil and petroleum products and trucks, steel, grain and coal.
In the five-year period 2016-2020, the company renewed its fleet by acquiring more than 14 ships.

Low profile but with a significant presence mainly in Dubai, shipowner Kostas is mainly active in the LPG market, while it has also expanded into oil product tankers. Benelux Overseas shipping consists of two separate companies, Benelux Overseas Inc in Athens and Benelux Overseas DMCC in Dubai. In recent years, the company has been continuously adding to its order book mainly LPG transport vessels, while at the same time taking care of profitable sales of the existing fleet. The renewal also concerns the tankers, having already ordered three tankers.
