Who are the witnesses on the jury in the Marielle-Anderson case?

The testimony of the jury that must convict former military police officers Ronnie Lessa and Élcio de Queiroz for the deaths of Marielle Franco and Anderson Gomes will be crucial in this trial this Wednesday (30).

There will be seven prosecution witnesses appointed by the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro. On the part of the defense, two on the defendant’s side, Ronnie and none on Élcio’s side.

One of the main interrogations must be of journalist Fernanda Chaves, Marielle’s former advisor, who was in the car next to the councilor at the time of the attack. She was the only survivor. Another, on the family side, that of Marielle’s mother, Marinete da Silva.

Federal Police delegate Guilhermo Catramby was included in Ronnie Lessa’s defense. This testimony will be based on Lessa’s award-winning collaboration with the PF. Based on the statement, the PF concluded the case.

The expectation of Lessa and Élcio’s defenses is that the jury could end this Wednesday, as “there is nothing left to be discussed”, as reported by CNN. But there is a possibility that the sentence with the convictions will be released on Thursday morning (31).

Lessa and Élcio will be heard after the witnesses, via videoconference. The former PMs are in Tremembé prison (SP) and Complexo da Papuda (DF), respectively.
