He pleaded guilty in Australian courts to 307 child sex offences Ashley Paul Griffith. The Australian paedophile allegedly committed them between 2007 and 2022when he was arrested, not only in his country, but also in Italy. The man in fact lived for a period in Pisa between 2013 and 2014.
Griffith, 46, who worked in childcare and daycare, pleaded guilty to all charges at a hearing in the Queensland District Court on Monday morning, Britain’s Guardian reports. It took more than two hours to read the entire list of charges. The Australian paedophile remained standing and said guilty after each charge.
Some of the charges were dropped, but the investigation included 190 counts of unlawful and indecent treatment of children under 12 in his care, 28 counts of rape, 67 counts of producing child exploitation material. He admitted to having perpetrated child abuse and having filmed and photographed them. Asked if he had anything to say, Griffith said no.
About 60 family members of his victims were present in the courtroom. Their identities have not been revealed. The Australian Federal Police believe Griffith recorded all of his alleged crimes on phones and cameras at work. He worked at daycare centers and childcare centres in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia, and Pisa, Italy. He was arrested in 2022 by officers from the Federal Police, who said all victims had been identified and their families notified, and Queensland Police. Police linked him to the childcare centers because his videos featured used bedsheets from those in Queensland.
The federal police called it “one of the worst pedophiles in Australian history“. There is no set time frame for how long the trial will last and when a verdict will be reached because many families may want to testify. One victim’s parents said they were relieved he pleaded guilty because it would avoid having to show photos of the children again to prove the charges. “We definitely feel like there’s something broken in the system, how someone like that can get away with this for so long.”
