Emily Armstrong was announced as the new lead singer of the rock group Linkin Park. The 38-year-old singer takes over vocals from Chester Bennington, who died in 2017. Check out who the artist is below.
Born in Miami, United States, Emily is the leader of the band Dead Sara, formed in Los Angeles in 2002. The singer also takes on vocals and guitar for the alternative rock group.
Emily learned to play guitar at age 11 and to sing at age 15. She formed Dead Sara with guitarist Siouxsie Medley and rose to prominence in the California underground scene.
The group’s first album was released in 2012. Four years later, the band released the album “Pleasure to Meet You”, which was noticed by the public and appeared on some Billboard charts.
Dead Sara’s most recent album was 2021’s “Ain’t it Tragic?”.
Emily cites Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell and Fleetwood Mac as her main musical influences, as well as Iggy Pop as her main inspiration on stage.
Linkin Park announces new album and tour
In addition to the new vocalist, the band announced a new tour and new album on Thursday night (5). Titled “From Zero”, the new album will be released on November 15.
The group also released the single “The emptiness machine”. This will be the group’s first work since the death of Chester Bennington.
The tour was announced with six dates in the United States, Germany, England, South Korea in September, and Colombia in November.
