Businessman Rodrigo Dib Carvalheira, 34 years old, was preventively arrested in Recife (PE) this Thursday morning (11) on suspicion of having committed crimes against women.
The Civil Police did not detail the crimes he allegedly committed and reported that the case is under judicial secrecy.
Rodrigo is an event businessman. The Carvalheira family is traditional in organizing festivals during Carnival in Pernambuco and owns a cachaçaria.
In 2013, Rodrigo opened a unit of the New York nightclub Pink Elephant in Recife, which operated in Boa Viagem until 2015. On a social network, the businessman described the nightclub as follows: “With an impeccable service of pure glamour, sound and state-of-the-art lighting, in addition to hosting the best international DJs, the club has capacity for around 500 people, as well as exclusive boxes for just 25 people.”
The businessman has already been in charge of well-known Recife nightlife events, such as Cafe de La Musique and Fica Comigo. In 2019, he opened Agência Buddha, which is also focused on organizing parties and shows. The company began its activities in May 2019 with an event held at Oficina Brennand, in Recife.
According to his profile on the same social network, Rodrigo went on exchange to a school in the United States and has a degree in business administration.
In January 2023, Rodrigo Carvalheira took office as Secretary of Tourism and Economic Development in São José da Coroa Grande (PE), a municipality located approximately 120 kilometers from Recife and on the border between Pernambuco and Alagoas.
According to the São José da Coroa Grande city hall website, the businessman no longer holds the position.
Still in politics, Rodrigo assumed the position of state president of the PTB in Pernambuco in June last year. The party ceased to exist in November of the same year, when the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) authorized the merger of the party with Patriota, generating the current PRD.
“I feel prepared for this new challenge. I am sure that the PTB will once again become a great party in our state”, wrote Rodrigo, at the time he took over the party in Pernambuco. “We will build the party’s path based on ethics, coherence and good customs, always looking out for those most in need”, he added.
On social media, the businessman mixes posts related to the police with content related to the parties he organizes, as well as photos with his girlfriend.
His last Instagram post, on March 14, was a photo of a prayer group. “Amazing opportunity to bond with our Creator and make great new friends,” she wrote.
Investigations
According to investigations, Rodrigo Carvalheira's victims were from the suspect's social circle. The case is being investigated in secret by the 1st Police Station Specialized in Women's Assistance.
The businessman was arrested at home and will be held in preventive custody. Upon arriving at the police station, he told the press that “everything will be presented”. “I'm inocent. They are a lot of my friends and I think it’s incredible that this is happening,” he said.
In a statement, Carvalheira's defense lawyer, Graciele Queiroz, said that his arrest caused “astonishment and strangeness”.

Rodrigo asked to be interviewed spontaneously at the police station, but the delegate presiding over the investigation did not want to do so.
