Who is the businessman suspected of installing a hidden camera in the bathroom of a residence in GO

Businessman Francismar Fernandes da Silva, 36 years old, was arrested last Friday (19) on suspicion of installing hidden cameras inside a residence in Goiás.

According to the Civil Police of Goiás, Francismar placed a camera in the bathroom of a family home in Anápolis, a municipality located around 60 km from the capital Goiânia. The house was owned by the businessman, but was rented.

According to investigations, the camera filmed people in the house taking a shower over the course of two weeks.

The police report that a 16-year-old teenager, a member of the family that rented the house, caught Francismar in the property's bathroom in February this year. The businessman fled after being seen.

The girl became suspicious, did a search and located the hidden camera, which was installed in a socket in the bathroom.

The site was inspected by the Technical-Scientific Police, who confirmed the existence of the equipment. According to the agency, the camera transmitted images in real time and was capable of storing files.

The family told the police that, shortly after renting the property, Francismar pretended that he needed to remove some object from the residence, when he asked to use the bathroom. Police believe the hidden camera was installed at that time.

According to delegate Aline Lopes, the businessman could be held liable for the crime of recording nude scenes of children and teenagers, in addition to invading the house. “As the house was rented, he had no right to enter there. It constitutes an invasion,” he declared.

Who is the suspect

Francismar Fernandes da Silva is the owner of a solar energy company in Anápolis. According to the company's website, the company provides “a complete solution for implementing solar energy, whether for low or high voltage”.

Police say that because the suspect owns a solar energy company, he has access to the interior of numerous homes. For this reason, the corporation believes that there may be other victims of similar crimes by him. The company has existed since 2016.

On social media, most of the posts made by the businessman were linked to his professional activity, with photos of installations and equipment related to solar energy.

Eventually, however, Francismar posted photos with his family. His last post on Instagram, from July last year, shows a baby on the beach. There is no confirmation whether the child is his daughter or whether she was otherwise related to him.

A CNN contacted Francismar's company to obtain a position on the case, but has not yet received a response. The report also tries to locate the suspect's defense.
