WHO says nine killed in 16 attacks on health facilities in Ukraine

The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday that at least nine people had died in 16 attacks on health services in Ukraine. “These attacks caused at least nine deaths and 16 injuries. At least seven of the injured are healthcare workers,” the organization said on Twitter.

“As of March 7, WHO has verified 16 health attacks in Ukraine. These attacks took place between February 24 and March 3. More reported incidents are currently in the verification process,” he said via Twitter.

On Sunday (6) the director-general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said on his Twitter profile that attacks on Ukrainian health equipment have left dead and injured.

“Attacks on health facilities or workers violate medical neutrality and are violations of international humanitarian law,” the director said in the publication.

When the first Russian troops arrive in Ukraine, the WHO expressed concern about a possible health emergency in the country.
