Who was the owner of the bar who was stabbed to death after defending a woman in SP

Businessman Carlos dos Santos Monteiro, owner of a rock bar in São Paulo, died last Saturday night (15) after defending a woman from harassment.

Nenê, as he was known, was the owner of the Malta Rock Bar, in Praça da Árvore – south of the capital of São Paulo. He had been married for more than 20 years to his wife, Luciana, and had no children.

Monteiro began his career as an advertiser before becoming a manager of some retail stores, bakeries and supermarkets.

In the 1980s, he worked as a drummer and began to get closer to the São Paulo music scene by performing in clubs and friends’ parties.

The businessman always had the dream of having his own rock bar. In September 2020, he used his savings to set up his own business. He believed that, when undertaking, he would seek the best for his family and friends.

In total, before opening the bar in January 2021, he invested more than R$200,000 to renovate the property. Because of the pandemic, the business started to succeed in 2022.

According to friends, the bar received a very diverse crowd and Nenê was an important person in the musical community.

The owner held many birthday parties upstairs in the bar, where there is a barbecue, always with live rock music. And even in moments without music, he would open the bar around 5:30 pm to welcome people and even give advice and have more personal conversations.

Some friends told CNN that he always sought to welcome customers and humanize service, always very close and attentive.
