THE Big Brother Brasil 10 consecrated the fighter Marcelo Dourado as the grand champion of the edition, shown in 2010 on TV Globo. The brother won the contest with 60% of the votes, overtaking dentist Fernanda (29%) and physical education teacher Cadu (11%), and took home R$1.5 million.
In addition to being a fighter, Dourado is a businessman and physical education teacher. He was born in Santiago, Chile, but was registered and raised in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. In the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Dourado fought judo and, a few years later, karate. He began fighting professionally at the age of 13.
Dourado had already participated in BBB 4, an edition in which Cida won. In his first participation in the reality show, he gained the reputation of a “villain” among the public, due to his controversial and, on some occasions, aggressive behavior. He was eliminated in the eighth week of the competition, receiving 68% of the public’s votes when facing a Paredão with participant Marcela Queiroz.
Already on BBB 10, Dourado knew how to take advantage of his second chance in the reality show, winning over the viewer by reviewing, at times, his attitude in the house. Even so, he was the protagonist of some moments of tension and controversy, when he antagonized the participant Dicésar who, in turn, accused his rival of homophobia.
It is worth mentioning that the 2010 edition of the program was also marked by the participation of Serginho and Angélica, in addition to Dicesar himself, who formed the “colorful group”, representing the LGBTQIAP+ community. After leaving the reality show, Dourado apologized to Dicesar for his speeches and actions.
Professional life after BBB
After his participation in BBB 4, Dourado dedicated himself to his MMA career. In his first professional fight, Dourado defeated Rafael Capoeira by knockout. The athlete also acts as a fight referee.
In addition to MMA, Dourado has a black belt in judo, jiu-jitsu and traditional wrestling. After BBB 10, he won the silver medal at the Senior World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in 2013, and Brazilian champion of the same discipline in 2016 and 2018. In the same year, he was runner-up to the Jiu-Jitsu Master World Champion.
Dourado also pursues his career as a personal trainer, giving classes online and in students’ homes, as he says in interview with Gshow. Recently, he gained popularity on the internet for his “honest reviews” of different films. His Instagram profile, Dourado, has 76.7 thousand followers.
