Whoopi Goldberg reveals she scattered her mother’s ashes at Disney: “Don’t do it”

The actress Whoopi Goldberg 68, has revealed that she scattered her mother’s ashes at Disneyland. The Oscar winner shared how she decided to honor her mother, Emma Harris, who died aged 78 in 2010 from a stroke, by scattering her ashes at the family matriarch’s favourite amusement park attraction.

However, as this practice is not allowed, the host of “The View” faked a sneezing fit as a cover while on the musical tour aboard a small boat.

“Nobody should do this. Don’t do it,” Whoopi began during her appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”

“My mother loved Disneyland, we took her there. When I was a kid, the World’s Fair was in New York and it was the opening of the [brinquedo] ‘small world’. She loved the ‘small world’! So during a walk I would… periodically take a little bit of her and do this [espirro gigante] and said, ‘Oh my God, this cold is getting worse and worse.’”

The “Sister Act” actress also used her sneezing technique at the park entrance. “And then we got to the flowers that say Disneyland and I was like, ‘Oh, look at that,’ and [espirrei]”, added the actress.

Despite trying to disguise his actions, the “Ghost” star later confessed his ruse to park administrators.

“I told them I did it. I wanted to make sure, actually, that I hadn’t done something dangerous, because it didn’t occur to me. But there’s a reason they don’t want ashes just floating around,” he explained.

Theme park staff have previously admitted they have to clean up ash about once a month, with rides being closed due to “technical difficulties” when in fact they are undergoing a deep clean.

An unidentified contributor revealed to the Wall Street Journal in 2018: “The [atração] Haunted Mansion probably has so much human ash in it that it’s not even funny anymore.”
