Why Gen Z is archiving their Instagram photos

Have you ever regretted posting a photo on social media after a few years? Sometimes it’s clothes that you no longer like, hair that you regret having, or a hairstyle that no longer has anything to do with you.

With that in mind, some young people are using TikTok to talk about why they decided to archive some Instagram posts. Among the explanations, they mainly talk about the excessive editing in the photos. Be it changing your nose, your mouth, or making your waist thinner.

In a video, influencer Carolina Gandelman says that one of the photos she archived was so photoshopped that she didn’t even recognize her own face. “Nothing that belongs to this face is part of my face,” she points out.

In the case of influencer Erica Feitosa, she is surprised how, at 14 years old, she wore clothes that were too adult for her age. “Today I look younger than I did in those photos,” she reflects.
