Why Norway recognized the Palestinian state

The reasons why Norway proceeded to recognize the Palestinian state are analyzed in an article in the French newspaper Le Monde, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Stere, stating that he is absolutely convinced that the recognition of Palestine as a state can contribute to the strengthening of moderate forces both in Palestinian as well as on the Israeli side. With the recognition of a Palestinian state today, Norway supports, as it notes, the peace plan on which the main actors in the region are working, highlighting at the same time Norway's close cooperation with Saudi Arabia, but also European support for this plan. Finally, it points to the need for full access to humanitarian aid and the unconditional release of hostages. Source: RES
