Why Prince Philip was born at a table in Corfu and where he is today

This is not an ordinary table… On this was born Prince Philip in Mon Repo in Corfu on June 10, 1921.

But where is this table today? The BBC gives the answer: In a meeting room at London City Hall, with full conference equipment. Transported by ship broker Howe Robinson.

“We’ve had it in our offices since 1980,” says Guy Hindley, a ship broker himself.

But why was Prince Philip born on this table? “What we can say is that when we look at old biographies, they say about the doctor of that time who suggested that the bed was not suitable and so (Alice’s mother) was taken downstairs and placed on the table.” The goal was to become as comfortable as possible.

An antiques expert said that the style is of “Queen Anna” as well as the chairs. “It was mass-produced, so it had nothing special.”

Of course, the fact that Prince Philip was born in it dramatically increases its value.
