“Wicked”: find out which songs are most listened to from the musical’s soundtrack

The first part of the adaptation of the musical “Wicked” arrived in Brazilian cinemas on Thursday (21), one day before the official release of the film’s soundtrack. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo took on the roles of Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, and dominated the vocals in the production directed by Jon M. Chu.

The album has 12 tracks and brings together classics from the Broadway musical such as “Popular” and “Defying Gravity”. These two are, in fact, the most listened to songs from the soundtrack on Spotify to date. The first, Glinda’s big solo in the film, has more than 4.5 million plays. It is surpassed only by the second, which ends the film and has almost 4.9 million listens.

“What Is This Feeling?”, another duet between Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, closes the podium with 3.1 million plays.

The plot follows Elphaba, a young woman who has not yet recognized her true potential and is misunderstood because of her greenish skin, and Glinda, a woman who has not yet discovered her true identity, who meet at Shiz University and form a deep friendship. .

However, after an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their lives take very different directions: the first becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, while the second becomes the Good Witch of the South, both iconic figures from the classic film “The Wizard of Oz“.

The cast of the production, which premieres in Brazil on November 21st, also includes Jeff Goldblum (“Jurassic Park”), Michelle Yeoh (“Everything Everywhere at the Same Time”), Jonathan Bailey (“Bridgerton”) and Ethan Slater (“Fosse/Verdon”).
