New shows arrive in Brazilian theaters in 2025. Among the selected titles are productions adapted from Broadway, successful franchises around the world, and plays that feature the biography of artists.
Some titles already confirmed are “Wicked”, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” and “Mamma Mia” .
Theater plays that debut in Brazil in 2025
“Wicked”
After the success of the theatrical adaptation, the Broadway musical will return to São Paulo for a season at Teatro Renault, starting March 20th.
The last showing of the play at the venue took place in 2016 and will return with the protagonists Myra Ruiz and Fabi Bang in the lead roles as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. Tickets can be purchased at Tickets For Fun website or directly at the Renault Theater box office.
“Tom Jobim Musical”
The city of São Paulo will be the next stage for superproduction “Tom Jobim Musical” which debuts in March 6th at Teatro Villa Lobos . The show promises to take spectators on an exciting journey through the life and work of one of the greatest geniuses in Brazilian music, Antônio Carlos Jobim (“Girl from Ipanema”, Águas de Março”). So far, there are sessions scheduled until June 15th this year.
The production brings together a cast of 27 actors and 13 musicians with Elton Towersey playing Tom Jobim himself and Otávio Müller in the role of Vinicius de Moraes. The show also has text by Nelson Motta and Pedro Brício musical direction of Thiago Gimenes and direction of João Fonseca.
Tickets can be purchased at Sympla platform. Values vary from R$ 350 (VIP audience for the entire category) to R$ 42 (popular ticket at the counter for the entire category).
“Almost Perfect Babysitter, The Musical”
With seasons in São Paulo (Teatro Liberdade) and Rio de Janeiro (Teatro Multiplan) from March 12th to May 11th, the musical will star Eduardo Sterblitch who will play the role of Robin Williams in the cinema.
The play will reflect on the importance of family, the role of parents in their children’s lives and the capacity for change and personal growth.
Tickets vary from R$380.00 (entire premium audience) to R$95.00 (B half counter) and can be purchased at Sympla website or at the physical box office of the respective theaters.

“Mamma Mia”
Claudia Netto, Maria Brasil, Gottsha and Maria Clara Gueiros return to the main roles in the show that will be presented at Teatro Bradesco, in São Paulo, and at Teatro Riachuelo Rio in Rio de Janeiro.
In the capital of São Paulo, the premiere takes place on March 14th and the performances run until April 6th. In Rio, the first performance will be on April 18th, and the last on May 11th. Tickets are now on sale at Uhuu website.
“Mean Girls”
Another Broadway musical already confirmed to come to Brazil is “Meninas Malvadas”, which also premieres March 13 at Teatro Santander, in São Paulo. Tickets are on sale at Sympla website.
According to information from the musical itself, in North America, the show had an audience of almost 1 million people, raising more than US$ 124 million and broke box office records five consecutive times on Broadway. It is currently showing in London.

“Dreamgirls”
Acclaimed Broadway musical, arrives in Brazil for sessions at Teatro Santander, in São Paulo.
“Dreamgirls” premieres on July 31st and the season runs until November 30th, 2025. Tickets on sale from January 20th.
“Vital, the Paralamas Musical”
The show will explore the group’s greatest classics, and will cover fundamental moments in the musicians’ history.
In São Paulo, the season takes place from May 3rd to May 31st, Sabesp Frei Caneca Theatre. In Rio de Janeiro, it is scheduled for February 6th to 23rd of the same month, at Teatro Multiplan VillageMall.
“Rita Lee – A Musical Autobiography”
The musical about the life of the Brazilian singer will have a new season in São Paulo this year. In “Rita Lee – A Musical Autobiography”, actress Mel Lisboa tells the story of the tropicalist based on the singer’s autobiography, released in 2016.
Sales for the new dates opened in November and are still available on Sympla website.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”
The play that is currently playing on Broadway in New York, will come to Brazil for its first time in Latin America. The exact dates and locations of the show have not yet been revealed.
Written by Jack Thorne the play is a magical extension of the story that has captivated generations. Its script explores the challenges of a new generation of wizards and an epic confrontation that mixes the past and the future, with innovative illusionistic and magical effects that will surprise the audience.
