The Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro (TJ-RJ) ruled that the widow of Renê Senna, winner of a prize of R$ 52 million from Mega-Sena in 2005, will not be entitled to the inheritance of her ex-husband.
The benefit was denied because Adriana Ferreira Almeida was convicted of having ordered Senna’s murder. In 2007, the former farmer was shot four times in front of a bar in the city of Rio Bonito, where he lived.
According to investigations, Adriana and Renê approached at a Christmas party held in a house bought with the prize, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, west of Rio de Janeiro. The two started dating and got married months later.
The victim’s daughter, Renata Senna, was the one who filed the request for Adriana not to receive the inheritance.
According to the sentence of the head judge of the 2nd Criminal Court of the District of Rio Bonito, Pedro Amorim Gotlib Pilderwasser, “the inheritance law is based on the relationship of solidarity and on the bonds of blood and affection existing between the author of the inheritance and his successors. , which is why, due to absolute incompatibility with the primacy of Justice and the principle of solidarity, paradigms inherent to the constitutional order, the law prevents those who attempt against the life of the holder of the inheritance from benefiting from receiving the acquis hereditary”.
The Civil Police and the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro pointed out that Adriana was the mastermind of the crime, and two former security guards were the authors. Adriana was sentenced to 20 years in prison and her prison term was determined in 2018. The two former security guards had already been sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2009.
