Yesterday, January 27, the TASS news outlet, citing its special correspondent and Roscosmos cosmonaut Dmitry Petelin, reported that Russian cosmonauts currently on the International Space Station prepared the Progress MS-20 cargo spacecraft for the undocking process from ISS with further “flooding”. The fact is that already on February 7, the cosmonauts will disconnect the cargo ship from the station, after which it will burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere for several hours. Those remnants that are not driven away in the process of falling to the planet will be flooded in a certain part of the Pacific Ocean, which is not used for navigation.
And in order to make the process of dumping the cargo ship as efficient as possible, the cosmonauts, in the process of preparation, transferred all the equipment that had failed or worked out, as well as the rest of the garbage from the station, to the Progress MS-20 cargo compartment, after which the hatch to the ship was closed.
