Official confirmation from the Biennale has not yet arrived, but second Variety it is certain that Spencer, the highly anticipated Pablo Larraín drama starring Kristen Stewart as Lady Diana, will be presented as a world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival. Written by the creator of Peaky Blinders Steven Knight, the film tells of a weekend in the early nineties at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk during which Diana decides to leave Prince Charles.
Together with Kristen Stewart, Spencer will also see Jack Farthing, star of Poldark, in the role of Prince Charles, as well as the BAFTA nominee Timothy Spall, la candidata all’Oscar Sally Hawkins e Sean Harris. The film will be released in theaters in 2022 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death and, always second Variety, will have no problem competing for the next Oscars.
