Will there be a reboot of The OC?

The feeling that pervades many of the film and TV productions this year is nostalgia. There are remakes and reboots, like the one of Gossip girl e Sex and the city, and many others are in production. Too bad, however, that there is always a title missing from the list: our beloved The O.C.

However, a few hours ago, to access our hopes for a possible new season, a post by Rachel Bilson su Instagram. The actress shared a shot with her colleague, Melinda Clarke aka Julie Cooper, with a slightly ambiguous caption and hashtags, the kind that we fans like so much in the hunt for clues.

Let’s start with Flashback Friday followed by a question mark as if to indicate that it is a fairly recent shot. Then the sentence that throws us into total confusion: wait for it. And, finally, two revealing but not too much hashtags: #eternalsummer – the reference to his character’s name seems more than obvious to me – and #covidsafe which could be an explanation for the lack of masks in the photo or (and this option we like to plus) for the strict anti-contagion protocols that are recently followed on everyone on the sets. There would be another small detail to close the circle, in truth: the background of the photo has all the air of being a soundstage where the interior scenes of the TV series are usually shot.

So, can we start celebrating and start the countdown to the airing of the fifth season? Maybe it’s too early, but it’s an idea that some cast members wouldn’t mind at all. First of all, Rachel Bilson who, in a recent interview, stated that some of his best memories are linked to the production of the series: «It’s a good memory for me and I’m grateful for it. I would be open to the reboot, indeed I think that Seth e Summeryears later, they are still happily married ».

Adam BrodyInstead, he was a little more cautious than his colleague: «The role of Seth he gave me a lot, but I didn’t want him to be too tied up and I tried, right after the show ended, to differentiate my roles and take all the opportunities that were offered to me. However, now I do not feel this need much less ». Did he send a signal to the producers of the series? What is known is that all the cast members have remained on excellent terms and frequently hear each other, as he also recalled Peter Gallagher, the actor who lent the face to Sandy Cohen.

True: we have few clues, but it is possible that something is moving. Maybe there is already a script for the new episodes on the table and the crew and cast are already at work. We should wait a little longer for confirmation, but we can already start thinking about what this new season could be like. Remember the final scene when Ryan, outside the construction site where he works as an architect, he meets a child who reminds him of a younger version of himself and approaches him just as he did Sandy years ago? I would say that he could easily be one of the new protagonists. Also, let’s not forget the other happy couple The O.C: Sandy e Kirsten Cohen. At the end of the fifth season, they moved to Berkeley after giving birth to a child who could now be a cheerful teenager. It’s still: Seth e Ryan are they still friends? There will be a flashback with Taylor?

I am full of questions and I know that I am not the only one. We hope that someone, or rather that something (a nice brand new season), arrives soon to dispel them.
