Intel Alder Lake processors are due out late this year or early next. These will be very unusual CPUs for a variety of reasons, and will also be Intel’s first 10nm processors for the desktop segment.
Intel official slides have leaked online today revealing some new details about the Alder Lake line.

Let’s start with what Intel says about a 20% increase in single-threaded performance for the new Golden Cove architecture. Recall that the large cores of Alder Lake will be based on it. However, the problem is that it is not clear against which CPUs this gain is measured. The starting point can be either Rocket Lake or Tiger Lake, but these are still CPUs with different architectures.
In multi-threaded mode, Intel promises a twofold increase in performance. On the one hand, Alder Lake will have up to 16 cores instead of eight for Rocket Lake. On the other hand, half of the cores in this case will be based on the Gracemont architecture, that is, these are energy efficient and not the most productive cores.

By the way, the slide itself confirms the maximum configuration of eight large and eight small nuclei. There you can also see GPU Xe-LP, DDR5 support along with DDR4 and PCIe 5.0.
The source also says Alder Lake desktop CPUs will support either DDR5-4800 or DDR4-3200 RAM. Apparently, only the Z690 chipset will support the new memory, while the rest will be content with supporting the old RAM.
The new chipsets will only support PCIe 4.0, while the CPUs themselves will have up to 16 PCIe 5.0 lanes and 4 PCIe 4.0 lanes.
