The film tells the extraordinary journey of emancipation and imagination undertaken by Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), born from the hands of Godwin Baxter, the surgeon scientist played by Defoe. “I was born into a family of doctors,” added the actor, who has just received a star on the Walk of Fame, «I grew up in contact with surgical instruments, because I often accompanied my father to the clinic. The fact that I play a doctor, a scientist, in this film allowed me to create a particular bond with the character right from the start. For most people, the idea of going to hospital or being sick is scary. For me, since it is a sort of return to the family, it is something comforting.”
