China is willing to work with the US to find ways to cooperate for the benefit of both countries, the Chinese president said Xi Jinping. China’s state-run CCTV broadcast the statement today.
As major powers, China and the US should strengthen communication and cooperation to contribute to stability in the world, Xi said in a message at an event of the National Committee on US-China Relations on Wednesday.
The two countries are at loggerheads over China’s policy toward Taiwan, Beijing’s relationship with Russia and, more recently, US efforts to prevent its semiconductor companies from selling technology to Chinese companies.
THE China recently angered by a series of visits by American lawmakers to Taiwan. Beijing has announced that the US is sending “dangerous messages” to self-ruled Taiwan, which China considers a breakaway province destined to be reunited with the mainland in the future, APE-MPE reports, citing Reuters.
Xi, who just secured a third term as the leader of the ruling Chinese Communist Party, has been fiercely critical of foreign interference in Taiwan and recently announced that China will never give up its right to resort to force for the island. US President Joe Biden said yesterday that “the US does not seek conflict with China”.
