‘Window’ Staikoura for new precision check and Diesel subsidy

The possibility for a new check of accuracy and subsidy of diesel oil was left open by the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras, speaking to SKAI, while referring to the fuel pass, he noted that more money will be considered and the income criteria will be expanded.

As he said, the priority of the government is to find fiscal space to support households. “It seems that this is taking shape in the last two months and will be used to return everyone to society,” he noted.

Regarding the fuel subsidy from July to September, Mr. Staikouras stated that “we will take some initiatives to help the citizens more in the field of fuel based on our budget margins. Our intention is to have “An extension for another three months. We will discuss expanding the criteria and strengthening them according to our capabilities. We will do the best we can.”

However, according to information from George Avtias, the new fuel pass will amount to 50-60 euros and the income limit will increase, as in the electricity subsidy, to 45,000 euros.

Regarding the subsidy of Diesel oil at the pump at 0.15 euros per liter, the Minister of Finance, stressed that “it is within the framework of the measures that are being evaluated”.

Asked if a new “check of accuracy” is being considered for vulnerable households, he left the window open, stressing that “we will discuss new measures with the prime minister in the coming days. First you inform the prime minister, you decide under his guidance and then you announce measures.”

At the same time, he added that the announcements for the abolition of the solidarity contribution to all will be made by September.
