Windows 10 and Windows 11 compared in terms of performance: results were mixed

Overclockers user Zystax compared the performance of Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems in various programs. We used Windows 11 with the latest update and Windows 10 with the May 21H1 update.

Both operating systems were installed on separate SATA SSDs with the same speed specifications. For testing, a computer with an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF processor, MSI B450-A PRO MAX motherboard, 32 GB CRUCIAL Ballistix Sport LT AES RAM with a frequency of 3400 MHz, and a GeForce GT 1030 video card was chosen.

Windows 11 was slightly slower in AIDA64 and AIDA64 FPU VP8, as well as FPU Julia benchmark. In multi-threaded mode CPU-Z 1.96, the drop in Windows 11 performance was especially noticeable. The WinRAR test showed that Windows 11 lagged behind Windows 10 by 8%.

Windows 10 and Windows 11 compared in terms of performance: results were mixed

In Cinebench R23 and PCMark 10, the new Windows 11 operating system was faster, while in 3DMark 11 they showed almost identical results. In Metro 2033, the minimum frame rates in Windows 11 were lower, and the average and maximum frame rates were higher than in Windows 10.

It is believed that after further optimization and refinement, Windows 11 will become much more stable and more productive.
