Windows 10 will soon lose one of three pre-installed browsers

Fresh versions of the Windows 10 operating system automatically installs the new Microsoft Edge browser based on the Chromium engine, whether the user wants it or not. It has now become known that Microsoft has already begun preparing to get rid of the old version of Microsoft Edge.

While Microsoft Edge on the proprietary EdgeHTML engine is included in the operating system. Thus, “bundled” with Windows 10, the user gets three preinstalled browsers at once – Internet Explorer, the old Edge and the new Edge.

As the enthusiasts of the WindowsLatest thematic resource noticed, the company has already removed support for the old Edge in the new language pack for test builds of Windows 10 21H2. This could be one of the steps Microsoft will take before users lose access to the old Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft plans to end support for the old Microsoft Edge in a little more than a month on March 9, 2021. The browser should finally disappear from the system, probably with the autumn major release of Windows 10 21H2.
