In the fresh beta build of Windows 11 for testers in the Dev channel, a completely redesigned new media player has appeared that serves to play audio and video (when playing videos, additional buttons appear, including rewind / forward a few seconds, as well as a quick subtitle menu). At the moment it is only being tested, so the old media player is still in the system.
With the release of the new Media Player in Windows 11, the developers have completely abandoned Groove Music – if users have a collection in this service, it will automatically be transferred to the new application. Apparently, Microsoft developed this media player with an emphasis on music – at least the interface (left side menu) in every possible way refers to the computer clients of the usual streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify. There is also a function for creating and managing playlists.
Among other things, the new program has a mini-player in the form of a floating window, which allows you to quickly activate play / pause and rewind songs. The developers reported that they have optimized the Media Player for the needs of people with accessibility, and also improved the hotkeys.
