Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25182 is now available to users in the developer channel. In addition to various fixes and improvements, it brings webcam shutter support. In other words, the system Camera application can now detect when the webcam is blocked from view or the laptop lid is closed. In such cases, the application displays an appropriate warning and suggests solutions to the problem.
This privacy feature does not work when users specifically cover the camera with a piece of paper tape. It only works when using webcams for which a protective shutter is provided by the manufacturer. A feature has been added to the Camera app version 2022.2207.29.0, which should also be faster and more stable on Arm64 devices.
In addition, Microsoft has fixed problems with the Taskbar and Start, as well as with the process Explorer.exe, which crashed when exiting full screen mode in games. A full build description is available on the Windows Blog.
