At the presentation of Windows 11, the developers announced the minimum system requirements for the new operating system – they are higher than those of Windows 10. The main difference is that Windows 11 is available only for 64-bit processors – there will simply not be a version for chipsets based on 32-bit architecture.
Windows 11 minimum system requirements
- Processor: 64-bit, dual-core, 1 GHz.
- RAM: 4 GB.
- Storage: 64 GB.
- Display: 9 inches, 1366 × 768 pixels.
- Graphics: DirectX 12 compatible, WWDM 2.x drivers.
- Security: UEFI, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0.
Although Windows 11 is not available for 32-bit processors, 32-bit applications will still work. A full comparison of the minimum system requirements for Windows 10 and 11 is available in a separate article.
The point about security is optional – if the computer does not have, for example, a modern TPM 2.0 chipset for processing confidential data, the system will still work. It’s just that Microsoft doesn’t guarantee that the job will be perfect.
