Microsoft today officially unveiled its new operating system Windows 11, about which there was a lot of hype on the network long before the announcement.

Windows 11 system requirements announced: bad news for older desktops and laptops

After the presentation, Microsoft published the system requirements for the new OS. The following minimum parameters are required to install Windows 11:

  • Processor – 64-bit, at least two cores with a clock speed of at least 1 gigahertz
  • RAM – 4 GB
  • Storage – 64 GB
  • Graphics adapter – DirectX 12 / WDDM 2.x compatible
  • Display – 9 inches with HD resolution (720p)

It also confirms that a Microsoft account and internet connection is required to install Windows 11 Home.

The system requirements turned out to be bad news for users with older laptops and desktops, as not all of them will be able to upgrade to Windows 11. However, you can continue to use Windows 10 for the next few years. At least – until October 14, 2025, when official support for Windows 10 will end.

You can check whether your PC meets the system requirements of Windows 11 not only manually, but also using a special Microsoft application – PC Health Check.
