During its April event, Microsoft accidentally revealed a Windows 11 innovation that hasn’t yet been announced – new folders for applications right on the desktop. These are not standard folders for files that have been in the system for many years, but special translucent folders – apparently, exclusively for application shortcuts, as in mobile operating systems. This is reported by Windows Latest.
On smartphones and tablets, the use of such folders is obvious: there is little space on a small display, and if you need to place applications of the same category next to each other, then it is most convenient to use folders. But there is much more space on computer monitors, so the purpose of such folders is blurred. However, the function will obviously not be superfluous – in the end, you can simply not use it.
So far, Microsoft has not even announced this innovation, so it is quite possible that only the layout is captured on the frame shown – it is possible that the final version will change.
