Windows in Russia under threat? In connection with the sanctions, the demand for domestic operating systems has grown six times

“Demand for operating systems has increased almost sixfold over the past month. We are seeing a sharp increase in the number of applications from state customers – federal and regional executive authorities, as well as state corporations and companies with state participation, which fell under sanctions. They willingly test domestic operating systems. However, keep in mind that the process from piloting to implementation takes at least a quarter. There are many successful projects in our portfolio. Among the customers of “Red Soft” are state corporations and more than 20 state authorities, including the Federal Bailiff Service of Russia, the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia. We work with Rostelecom, Gazprom, Transneft and others. Working closely with the regions– Andrey Sviridov, head of the department for working with partners at Red Soft.

He also added that it is still difficult to predict what proportion of companies and institutions will switch to using domestic operating systems, since, according to him, much will depend on how the situation with Microsoft Windows will develop in Russia. “Now even those companies that have not previously considered domestic software are starting to acquire it. In general, our forecasts are optimistic, we see good prospects for further development.”Andrey Sviridov said.

Increased demand is also recorded for domestic application software. For example, office software packages.

“Over the past 2.5 weeks, the demand for MyOffice solutions has grown six times. At the same time, 70% of requests for testing and purchasing our products fall on large commercial companies. Now most often people come to us with a request to purchase the MyOffice Private Cloud solution and help in migrating from the clouds of foreign vendors. Our solution can be deployed on the servers of the customer company or the equipment of trusted partners. The product allows you to organize joint work with documents, and also provides access to files from any device, without being tied to a physical workplace.– Elena Nepochatova, the commercial director of the Russian company developer of office software “MyOffice” reported.

Of course, nothing threatens the user version of Windows in Russia, but commercial versions, judging by how events develop, can (and probably will) be replaced by domestic operating systems.
