“Winning means not giving up,” says Preta Gil about her battle against cancer

The singer Black Gil 50, published, last Tuesday (3), a reflection on the new battle against cancer . Recently, the artist resumed cancer treatment after receiving a diagnosis that the disease had spread to four different regions of her body.

In the post, Gilberto Gil’s daughter reinforced the importance of sharing this moment with fans, followers, friends and family. “To me, winning is not giving up. It’s being happy in adversity, one day at a time,” she began.

Soon after, the voice of “Sinais de Fogo” said she was surrounded by love and good energy on all sides, however, this is a fight she must fight alone.

“It is me alone with myself who has to solve this problem, with my discipline and the cure!”, stated Preta.

Resumption of oncological treatment

On the 20th, Preta announced that she had resumed her oncological treatment after a year since his surgery to treat colorectal cancer with which she was diagnosed in January 2023. The artist was discharged from Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo, on the 26th.

The singer explained that the disease was in remission, but the cancer can relapse (return) within a period of about five years. “Not only in my case, but in the case of 40% of people who have primary cancer, and that’s what happened to me, my cancer came back.”
