Winter should be harsh in the South and Southeast, with rain in the Northeast, says meteorologist

Winter officially started at 6:14 am this Tuesday (21) and runs until September 22. Climatempo meteorologist Noele Brito said the country is under the influence of La Niña, which changes “the pattern of precipitation and temperature.”

“We will have the winter with rain a little below average in the Midwest, Southeast and South, with increased precipitation in the Northeast and North”, he explained, in an interview with CNN Radio .

At the same time, “we can have a more rigorous winter, with lower temperatures, in the South, Southeast and Midwest.”

There is also a chance of frost and even snow: “We already had it during autumn and we may have negative temperatures again, especially in Serra Gaúcha, Santa Catarina, with frost and freezing rain.”

Noele points out that winter will be marked by episodes of cold wave “but not all the time”: “We will have waves that last a week and then return to standard”.
