Winter: The Google Doodle is dedicated to the winter solstice

The Google Doodle today does not honor a person or a historical event, but an era. In Winter, so it is dedicated as this year’s winter solstice coincides with the culmination of the last drizzle of the year, Αρκτίδων. So, the search engine decided to “wear” its winter clothes.

Winter solstice is an astronomical term used to define the time when the sun is at the greatest possible distance south of the equator. In the Northern Hemisphere, the winter solstice occurs every year on December 21 or 22, when the shortest day of the year is observed. This determines the beginning of winter.

Today, however, is very important for many countries around the world and is celebrated especially with festivals and other activities. In addition, it is worth mentioning that many scientific studies have shown that the winter solstice was at the center of the life cycle and the planning of human crops by Neolithic era. And this has its own value both for their survival and for their financial well-being.

It is noted that on the night of December 21 the relatively light rain of rising stars will peak Arctic. the last “shooting stars” of the year. The Arctic, which occur between December 17-25 and produce five to ten meteors per hour, come from the dust left behind by the comet Tatl, which was first discovered in 1790.
