The Ukraine War has been going on for almost 10 months and, depending on how the European continent will behave in the face of winter, it could go on for even longer.
This is what ESPM professor of international relations Gunther Rudzit defends, in an interview with CNN Radio.
According to him, the prospect “has become very bad for Ukraine as a whole”, as Russia has intensified attacks on infrastructure, such as electricity and gas supplies.
Gunther reckons that “support for the war in Europe is weakening” because of the ever-increasing gas bill on the verge of winter.
“Everything indicates that Europeans will survive the winter without blackouts and rationing, but the cost is high and the population starts to question support.”
At the same time, he sees the season as “crucial” since, if support from Europeans and even the United States survives the winter, “the prospect is that the war will go on for a long time.”
The professor believes that “the way out of the war will be negotiated and political, like all wars, but as long as there is no approximation of the objectives of the two sides, there is no way to negotiate.”
