The American company WisdomTree has filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) another application for the launch of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) for Bitcoin.
According to the filing, the shares of the WisdomTree Bitcoin Trust are planned to be listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CBOE) bZx under the ticker BTCW. The fund’s share price will correspond to the bitcoin rate, and the CME CF Bitcoin US Settlement Price index will be used to track the rate.
The custodian service for storing assets has not yet been named, but the Delaware Trust Company will become the trustee. Also, the CBOE exchange must submit its application for a rule change in order to list shares of the Bitcoin ETF from WisdomTree, but so far the exchange has not done so.
Recall that at the end of December 2020, VanEck submitted a similar application, and in February CBOE representatives addressed the SEC with a statement about their readiness to list ETF shares for Bitcoin, if the corresponding application was approved.
Earlier, the Canadian regulator approved several Bitcoin ETFs. Many hope that this decision will affect the SEC’s policy towards such products.
