With 1.1°C, São Paulo records a new minimum temperature record in 2022

The city of São Paulo recorded the lowest minimum temperature in 2022 at dawn this Friday (20), according to data from the Center for Climate Emergency Management of the City of São Paulo (CGE).

The Capela do Socorro meteorological station, at the extreme of the South Zone, registered an absolute minimum temperature of 1.1°C – that measured in just one point -, while the city average reached 6.3°C, also a record for 2022 and for the month of May since 2004.

The lowest absolute temperature previously recorded was 3.3°C, at Capela do Socorro and Engenheiro Marsilac stations, on Thursday night (19). The lowest average for 2022 so far had been measured on Wednesday (18), with 7°C and a thermal sensation of -4°C.

According to the CGE, the maximum forecast for this Friday is 17°C. Thermometers should show “rapid decline” from the end of the afternoon.

Forecast for the next few days

Also according to the Management Center, the cold front should gradually move towards the ocean and lose strength. Thus, the next mornings will still be cold, but the mornings and afternoons should have sun and higher temperatures.

For Saturday (21), the forecast is for a minimum of 8°C and a maximum of 21°C. The day should start with fog and low temperature, but it should dissipate and give way to the sun.

On Sunday (22), thermometers should mark between 10°C and 22°C. The scenario will be similar to Saturday, with fog and cold in the morning and temperatures rising in the afternoon.
