With 4,000 pets from 50 countries, SP hosts the largest dog event in the world

From the 8th to the 11th of December, the capital of São Paulo will host the World Dog Show for the first time. This year, the event brings 4,000 dogs from 50 countries to Expo Center Norte — with beauty exhibitions, canine sports and grooming (aesthetic care).

Known as the World Cup of Dogs, this is the third edition in Brazil, organized by the Brazilian Cinophilia Confederation (CBKC), the largest national cynophilia entity and the only representative of the International Cynological Federation (FCI) in the country.

“Hosting an event of this size on national soil shows the confidence that FCI member countries have in CBKC and will place Brazil at the center of the eyes of the world canophilia.

We are very proud”, says Fábio Amorim, president of the entity.

The exhibition celebrates 100 years of dog breeding in Brazil, which has the pet market in sixth place in the world in terms of revenue.

According to the Pet Brasil Institute (IPB) the 2021 turnover reached 51.7 billion reais and should grow by 22% this year.

The expectation is that 12,000 visitors will attend to follow the tests, presentations and to buy gifts for their own pets.

The pet food market grew by 33% in revenues in 2021, according to a survey by the Brazilian Association of the Pet Products Industry (Abinpet).

The increase in the search for pet food is linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.

For Carlos Martella, marketing director at Royal Canin Brasil, social isolation has led tutors to live more closely with pets – and to invest in their best friends.

In addition, social distancing has increased the demand for dogs and cats for companionship.

A census carried out by the IPB reports that Brazil closed 2021 with 149.6 million pets. The estimate is that 58.1 million, more than a third of them, are dogs.

An increase of 4% compared to the number of dogs registered in 2020.

Tickets vary between R$40 and R$300 and can and are available for sale through the Virtual Box Office🇧🇷
