With 850,000 affected by the rains, Bahia has a new flood warning

The storms in Bahia affected 850,000 people according to a survey by the state Civil Defense, with almost 90,000 having nowhere to live. The situation could worsen with the possibility of new storms, according to an alert from the National Institute of Meteorology released this Saturday (8).

Due to the rains, the state has more than 26,000 homeless people, who have lost their homes, and more than 61,000 displaced, who have had to leave their homes and do not know when they will be able to return to their homes.

There are 26 dead, two missing and 520 injured.

In all, 175 cities in Bahia affected by heavy rains and flooding, of which 164 are in emergency situations. The city of Mirante was the last to be part of this list.

The National Institute of Meteorology released an alert of heavy rain for some regions of western Bahia, passing through Brumado, to Vitória da Conquista, in the southwest of the state, to the region of Porto Seguro, in southern Bahia, reaching Teixeira de Freitas , on the border with Minas Gerais.

Teixeira de Freitas and Porto Seguro were already affected by previous rains, at the beginning of December.
