With Airbnb you can now also stay in Fai assets

Stay in an ancient monastery overlooking the Ligurian sea, in a sixteenth-century villa in the Veneto countryside, or in a nineteenth-century palace in the heart of one of the most beautiful Italian cities: these are among the great news to book on Airbnb which, together with the you do – Fund for the Italian Environment e The Landmark Trust, has just started a new project to allow us to live entire holidays, as well as unique experiences, among wonderful places that have made the history of Italy great, contributing to the preservation of our historical heritage.

From today on on site www.airbnb.it/fai it’s possible book dreamy nights in a selection of historic homes and palaces of the Fai, as well as special visits to be experienced during the day to discover its history and secrets. An initiative launched in the same week of European Heritage Dayso (the event that on 25 and 26 September includes special initiatives and openings of places of culture) and the possibilities are many in every corner of the country.

For instance, among the properties in which it will be possible to book three or more nights there is theAbbey of San Fruttuoso in Camogli, where the Casa del Mare (an old fisherman’s house) or the Monastery of Sant’Antonio di Tivoli built on the remains of an ancient Roman villa with historic rooms overlooking the Park of Villa Gregoriana. Still, for those who love the countryside, the other unmissable stay is to the Attic of the Orchard and the Attic of the Vineyard of Villa dei Vescovi, a sixteenth-century building surrounded by rows in the Euganean Hills, considered a great example of humanist culture in which architecture, art and landscape blend harmoniously. For those who prefer the cities of art, there is instead Casa Guidi, the residence of the poets Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning in Florence.

Difficult to choose even between many experiences in Fai goods that can now be booked directly on Airbnb. Examples? Villa Necchi Campiglio, the Milanese villa of the thirties designed by the architect Piero Portaluppi, the Olivetti Shop in Piazza San Marco in Venice designed in 1958 by the architect Carlo Scarpa on commission from Adriano Olivetti or il Wood of San Francesco, with an excursion that starts from the center of Assisi and leads to the clearing of Third Paradise, the land art work of Michelangelo Pistoletto. Wonderful experiences, which also contribute to safeguarding the beauty of Italy: they are part of the category “Airbnb for the social” and 100% of the amount paid by the guests is donated directly to the FAI without commission costs.
