The government of Minas Gerais is preparing measures to combat the dengue epidemic. Until the last update from the Ministry of Health, the state has 192,258 probable cases, with a coefficient of 936.1 for every 100 thousand inhabitants.
Due to the worrying scenario, the government of Minas Gerais presented actions to combat arboviruses (dengue, zika and chikungunya) last week. Among them is the creation of a D-Day to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito next Saturday (24).
The movement, which has already joined 160 Minas Gerais municipalities from all regions, will carry out community efforts to eliminate outbreaks of Aedes aegypti.
Mobilization actions are planned to guide and raise awareness among the population that the daily responsibility of maintaining environments within homes also lies with citizens. “This is a time to raise awareness among the entire population and we need everyone to help us spread the importance of not leaving debris and standing water. It is necessary to highlight the role of each citizen in this process, so that we can reduce the numbers of this disease that is greatly afflicting us in 2024”, warned the Secretary of Health, Fábio Baccherett.
The State Department of Health of Minas Gerais (SES-MG) allocated more than R$ 150 million to all municipalities in the state to combat diseases caused by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.
Hydration room
To expand service and support assistance to the population, SES-MG informed that, through the Minas Gerais State Hospital Foundation (Fhemig), it will keep the hydration unit (volume replacement) at HJK open for 24 hours, in the Barreiro region. The location, opened on February 2nd, has 21 chairs to serve patients who need to receive intravenous hydration and 30 chairs for oral hydration.
The hydration unit has a triage room, two medical offices, two venous replacement rooms and space for oral hydration and the service capacity can reach up to 300 people per day. The HJK maternity ward also became a municipal reference for care for pregnant women with dengue, chikungunya or zika.
The opening of the hydration unit is part of actions foreseen in the Fhemig Contingency Plan for diseases caused by Aedes aegypti, which provides for the progressive activation of services, according to the demand of the municipality of Belo Horizonte (full health manager) and the epidemiological situation.
