With an increase in cases of Covid-19 and requests for hospitalization, the municipality of Rio reactivated 50 exclusive beds for the treatment of the disease, at Hospital Ronaldo Gazolla.
Since November, the unit no longer treated those infected with coronavirus. Before that, the hospital was a reference for the treatment of the disease, but, with the reduction of cases in the city, the unit was completely converted to other specialties on November 15th.
The City of Rio also officiated a request to the Ministry of Health for the reopening of another 400 federal beds for Covid-19 in the capital. The request included 150 places at the Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital and 250 at the Bonsucesso Federal Hospital.
This Tuesday (11) 10,489 new cases of the disease were confirmed in the municipality in just 24 hours, while in the entire previous month there were 8,008 cases.
The public health network also returned to have patients with Covid in the queue for a bed. This morning, 26 people were waiting for hospitalization in the capital and another 180 were already hospitalized. The minimum waiting time for service in the public network of the municipality is 1 hour of 19 minutes. The data are from the Covid Panel of the City Hall of Rio.
