Eletrobras informed this Friday (17) that it signed, together with its subsidiaries, the new concession contracts for 22 hydroelectric plants, as provided for in the company’s privatization process.
The renewal of contracts for a period of 30 years provides for the payment of around 32 billion reais to the Energy Development Account (CDE), with a focus on low tariffs, in addition to 25.38 billion reais in bonuses for granting concessions to the Union.
The hydroelectric plants that had their contracts renewed are the following: Mascarenhas de Moraes, Furnas, Luis Carlos Barreto (Estreito), Porto Colombia, Marimbondo, Funil-RJ, Corumbá I and Itumbiara, owned by Furnas; Tucuruí, Coaracy Nunes and Curuá-Una, owned by Eletronorte; and Apolônio Sales (Moxotó), Sobradinho, Funil, Pedra, Paulo Afonso I, Paulo Afonso II, Paulo Afonso III, Paulo Afonso IV, Luiz Gonzaga (Itaparica), Boa Esperança (Castelo Branco) and Xingó, owned by Chesf.
“With the execution of the New Concession Agreements, all the conditions for the Eletrobras privatization process were met…”, the company said in a material fact.
The contracts will come into force and take full effect from this Friday, the company said, citing other items in the privatization process, such as the corporate restructuring for Empresa Brasileira de Participações em Energia Nuclear e Binacional (ENBPar) to take over the facilities and stakes. owned by the electric company at Eletronuclear and the Itaipu hydroelectric plant.
