With changes, the 2023 Carnival begins to take shape in Rio de Janeiro

The calculation of Carnival scores marks the end of the revelry season. As in sports, this is when the trading market is busy looking for the artists responsible for the party’s aesthetics. After having signed the Paraíso do Tuiuti parade, which ended up in 11th and penultimate place, Paulo Barros exchanges the São Cristóvão association for the fourth placed Vila Isabel, for his third passage through the blue and white.

Salgueiro, Portela, Vila Isabel, Viradouro, Beija-Flor, and the champion Grande Rio will perform, in order.

Traditionally, the associations intensify the negotiations and the announcements of the plots of the following year after the parade of the champions. In 2023, the Grupo Especial parades are scheduled for February 26 and 27, with the return of performances to the traditional Sunday and Monday of Carnival. The two previous days will be dedicated to the Gold Series.
