An unusual incident occurred on USAas a city chose mayor with “crown-letters”, since the two candidates had gathered the same number of votes and did not want a recount.
THE Guardian states that the strange election took place in Monroe, a city in North Carolina, with a population of 35,000. There, the two final candidates were Robert Burns and Bob Janacekwhere they got 970 votes each.
When they got to the local election board meeting, they waived their right to request a recount, so the “crown-grams,” considered a last resort under city law, were implemented.
“Now it’s all in God’s hands,” Robert Burns said in a video he posted on Facebook, then celebrated with his hands in the air as he won.
