With DiCaprio, Scorsese’s new film is highlighted at cinema premieres

New productions promise to move the national and international film industry with films arriving in cinemas across the country this Thursday (19).

The catalogs feature highly anticipated productions, such as “Flower Moon Assassins “, with actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, and “Hypnotic – Invisible Threat “, starring Ben Affleck and Brazilian Alice Braga. There is also the sequel to the franchise “Trolls “, with the participation of Justin Timberlake, and the national film “I am maria “, with Núbia Maurício, Daniel Dantas and Pablo Sanábio.

“Killers of the Flower Moon”

Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film, based on a true story, is inspired by the best-selling book of the same name by writer David Grann and shows mysterious murders that took place in the Osage Indian tribe.

The film shows how the original population became the target of a series of brutal crimes committed by white men, after the intruders became rich due to the discovery of oil that was abundant in indigenous territory, in Oklahoma in the 1920s. To tell the story, a An unlikely love story takes place between native Mollie Kylie, played by Lily Gladstone, and Ernest Burkhart, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

Alongside Geoffrey Standing Bear, main chief of the Osage community, the filmmaker comments on the importance of approaching this history in the most authentic way possible: “I always think that America needs its culture, more than just learning. We can open our minds and hearts in a whole new way.”

In addition to the protagonist duo, the cast also includes Robert de Niro, Jesse Plemons and Brendan Fraser. The film is distributed in theaters by Paramount Pictures.

Scorsese’s last feature in theaters was “The Irishman”, from 2019.

The film tells the story of marathon swimmer Diana Nyad, 64, who became the first person to cross from Cuba to Florida, in the United States, in 53 hours, in a sea infested with sharks and without protective cages. .

“Heaven Can’t Wait”

“Heaven Can’t Wait”, directed by José Maria Zavala, is a Spanish biographical documentary that tells the story of Carlo Acutis, a young British-Italian who died in 2006, aged 15, from leukemia. The documentary brings together a series of accounts from people who committed themselves to praying tirelessly for the young man while he was ill.

“The Book of Dreams”

The film, directed by Lisa Azuelos, tells the story of Thelma Carrez, mother of Louis, a boy who falls into a coma after being run over.
